I am inspired by nature, in particular the Australian outback and the strange native plants that abound there, and the small towns scattered throughout the bush.

As a child I loved May Gibbs's Gumnut Babies, where Australian native flowers had distinct personalities and interacted with the animals and other plants. I am inspired by these stories in my work, in particular, with my character Alba, a young girl who has a special affinity with flowers and can speak to them in their own flower language.
